well it had been a long day today. the early class, afternoon classes followed by work. work was an hour and half longer than usual because "the state" is coming and we had to clean everything perfectly. after that is was straight to homework and reading. midnight rolled around and i was starving, so i decided to take a drive to steak and shake about 15 minutes away, and enjoy some Dead to get that stress off. i put in the 4th disc of "Ladies and Gentelmen, The Grateful Dead, April 1971". well it went through that awesome lineup on the way there of Drums-Jam-Goin Down the Road Feelin Bad-Cold Rain and Snow. and on the way back, Casey Jones started. anyone that has heard this version will know what i'm talking about, it's just amazing. well that really fast part at the end started, and i just had one of those moments. that "feeling" that i'm assuming every Dead Head has every once in awhile, wear you hear and feel the music, and everything is just perfect. the kind of moment that reminds me why i love the Dead as much as I do. all the stress is gone, and the steak and shake tasted awesome. on a side note, what do you think of this album? later guys

GratefulFloyd, you nailed it when you talk about those moments that make you realize why you love the Dead so much. I have so many of those, It would be hard to count.

I've had too many to count ( I actually think I'm having one right now) but I've had an affirmation to the same cd you're talking about. It was in the jam after drums where jerry spills out a nice little riff. It sounds like something he used in hard to handle on the previous disc. Whatever it was I remember it really got me going.
I had another one when I was heading down the road with some woman troubles listening to the first disc of the four. With woman troubles in mind, take a look at the setlist off the first disc. Every song was perfect!

The mention of ladies and gentleman brought these to mind.

wwhoa thats weird man... EXACT same thing happened to me on the way to school this morning... same cd, same run of songs... best part was that i was in kinda a bad mood at the begginning but that just completely turned everything around and the day was cool from then on
