fwiw, Peavey is the only company that has always had a line of Pedal Steel specific amplifiers available at affordable prices brand new, built very road worthy, and good sounding SS power and speakers for Pedal Steel.

Not such a big fan of their PA's, though.
Never used their guitar amps enough to comment.

There is a great Chet Atkins story in which a guy came up to the stage and said to Chet, "Hey Chet, That guitar sounds really great!"
Chet, in a cocky type of response, throws both hands in the air and says "Oh yeah?!...How does it sound now?"

In my mind...
Tone - Produced by your hands (Listen to a beginner and an expert play a given instrument side by side).
Timbre - Inherent tonal quality of an instrument (play 10 identicle model Strats... they don't all sound the same).
Your Sound - What comes out of the speaker. (What you hear).

The bottom line is you would never play a real gig without the gear you like regardless of how it would sound.
And both you and Tiger are real good. Ramblin' Rose band is sweeet ! And Ya know I love ya Pete ! The average Joe in the audience wouldnt be able to tell any difference but YOU WOULD.
And for the record I dont think Bob is the result of what gear he uses ; he use's gear to get the results he wants.

Since this thread has more than devolved into some sort of ambigious abyss, i thought I'd just add that IMHO, Peavey IS extremely underrated--especially for the cost. I used a Peavey KB-300 for about 15 years and it took some serious abuse. I mean serious abuse. Anyway, I went out looking for a new keyboard amp last year and essentially couldn't find anything to truly replace it. Roland's are ok but they just aren't as clear and clean. I wouldda bought another KB (now they go by KB-3, 4 and 5 I think) but all the controls are on top and that prohibits me from using the Motion Sound faux leslie. Same problem with the Rolands and all the other amps I saw worth looking into. I'd love to kow who thought putting the controls on top was smarter than in front---I mean, where you supposed to put your beer?

Anyway, I ended up getting an Alesis kb amp which does allow the Motion Sound to sit on top. It was cheaper and had built in xlrs to eliminate the need for an DI and it's stereo.
But, it is a total POS. No power and too tinty. Since I only use it as a moniter, it's not a big deal, but the point is, Peavey makes some pretty solid and reliable stuff.

I guarantee the next KB amp I buy will be a used KB 300.

Yeah... it proves that technique is what gets you there...

but, boy does it also demonstrate how shitty Jerry's playing can sound through poor equipment (or, rather, equipment that isn't of his choosing/design). His playing is most definitely his, but the tone sucks. you can also see/hear this on some of the other youtube vids available with him playing with other folks, like the one with Elvis Costello, etc. His playing was matched to his equipment.
