two ideas- the live at fillmore east release from 69 i think(quite psychadelic), and infrared roses(trippy as hell but maybe too scary i don know)

oh and the playing in the band and eyes off of the new cow palace release are great. i listened to that show on an airplane to london for the first time, delta had it on their inflight radio thing, it was really cool. the PLaying in the Band jam was so awesome

well i think it's not about showing your friend how psychedelic they were, it's about getting the whole music together that they represented (psychedelic, blues, jazz, country, bluegrass======> all this makes them what they were, i can't tell you exactly what it is but it's soooo beautiful)
so if your friend gets this he'll never stop listening to the Dead
