I hear this lick a lot in later years, especially in solos from around 1990, its this weird descending sliding thing

I'll give you 2 examples of it and I guarantee youve heard it before

If this is what you're talking about it's what I'd call a decesending double note chromatic line, in two parts, one over the E chord and the other dropping into the D chord, or beginning of the next phrase.

I use my middle finger for the G string throughout and my ring for the E string for the first part and my index for the second part.

Dude I been meaning to get together, the more I think about it, a Promised Land vid that lays out a bunch of stuff. It's a good candidate for covering a bunch of jg bases. Maybe not so much tabbing out riffs from shows like above, although I'm not opposed to that, but a more comprehensive look at my take on jg's style and his tendencies toward tidbits like above.

Hopefully in the near future.

And yes Promised Land has alot of that signature Jerry sound. Another good'un that would cover alot is maybe a bluesy song like Truckin', Big Railroad Blues, Saturday Night, Around And Around. As im sure you know his blues licks sound familiar to what other people are doin but it still has very much a taste of his own. You hear that folky kinda sound in there sometimes.

I listened to the clip and pretty much new what it was from hearing it. Grabbed the gitar to see where it was. The tabbing took most of the time. Hope that didn't sound smug!

Pull up means you pull up your finger from the first fret cited to the second one cited. Hammering would work as well but I think the pull up is simpler in this instance so I always try to use the KISS rule.

To head off anyone KISS= keep it simple stupid.

so I was searching for that Jerry lick in my Vault DVDs (to help get it down) but I couldnt find it, but I did find another bluesy lick that Jerry uses a lot throughout his career. You hear this one a lot in fast paced blues jams like Big River or Truckin:

You can juice it a bit and add the 5 on the b string with the 5 on the e.

Also sometimes I think instead of 8-7-5 he used 7-6-5 for a different flavor. I think.
