I have 2, a SYF with a rainbow going through it on my shoulder, and a crying bear and JG's guitar with garcias' Bday/Dday under it on my back shoulder

Those are the only dead related... have the ween logo on my arse, my sons name, in binary as a band on one arm, and the top half of an atari controller ... well... use your imagination.

I've wanted a SYF tattoo for quite a while now and I'll get
one "sometime" this year. I'm thinking of having it on my
upper-arm so another one on the opposite arm would be nice,
maybe a dancing bear or dancing turtle (from Terrapin).

Does anyone have thoughts on wether a SYF would look best in
colors (do they fade much?) or if I should go for just black?

I would go for colour. This day and age there should be no problem with colours fading.

I have colours in my tattoos over 20 years old which still look good.

you can get any of the icons from jerry's guitars, wolf would be a good one right on the forearm. I have the cyclops skull from terrapin on my shoulder.

I am also planning a couple others, my back is going to turn into a dark star piece

if you dont want to go with pictures and prefer words, i would go with some of your favorite lyrics in the bad acid font. or i would go with classic syf on the calf or i like that terrapin banjo idea. i have 7 piercings and a tattoo on my shoulder blade. Tattoos hurt more at the time and piercings hurt much more for the six month period after words
