hey guys i was just considering getting a dead themed tattoo and am looking for some ideas,

i would like to know what some of you have and if you saw any sites with dead tatoos displayed,


I was thinking maybe some dancing skeleton type thing but im not sure, i know i dont really want the steal your face logo or bears as much but im open to anything as this will be on me for life, lol

let me know what you guys have and what you think i need some brainstorming from you dead heads, thanks

My wife has a small dancing bear on her.....oh I can't tell you where,,,,,but it is done in good taste....

I have a few tattoos including a big back piece but not any Dead ones - Yet!!

I have seen the SYF logo and the dancing skeletons, which may well be my choice as an ‘Celtic band’.

I do not know if you already have tattoos or know a tattooist, so forgive me if I am preaching to the converted but what I would advise is that you find yourself a good tattooist and they will be able to do any design you wish, so your choice is endless.

Also with a reputable tattooist you get quality ink which you want as you will have it a good long time.

Personally I took a long time to find the right tattooist and it was worth the wait

Celtic bands are my favorite. Funny but at first I thought you meant celtic music bands.

A great Idea!
You can get some cool designs with a celtic knot tattoo.
Two designs came to mind right away.
First the Wake the Dead CD. they have a celtic knot band with skels and bolts around the outside of the CD.wake the dead as seen here


Also the tee shirt designs, I think there is a celtic syf and a syf celtic knot, celtic mandala and the celtic bears like these guys

One of my friends has a small Jerry hand-print tatooed over his heart ... my absolute favorite!

Another female friend has a repro of Jerry's red-and-gold watercolor painting of a fish on her calf... very cool!

by the way what is the pain similar to during this process, i give dental injections so i know something about this lol, how does it compare, is it just annoying or do you really brace yourself,

Ah the pain!! That fine, fine line we oft dare tread ‘tween it and the pleasures of life.

Well in truth there is some pain but how painful depends on where you have the tattoo, the skill of the tattoo artist, and the outline of the tattoo is more painful than the filling in.

For me there was certainly some pain in the early stages with the outlines but I do find that mentally I get on a plane above the pain as the tattoo progresses. The buzz of the needle can also be a bit mesmerising so that helps. And if your chosen artist is playing some good music you can get lost in that too.

As for grading the pain with a comparison that’s hard to do and we do all have different pain thresholds but really it is not too bad.

I would never say getting a tattoo is not painful but if you really want one then what pain there is is not reason enough to avoid getting one.

Again the better the artist the better, cleaner and less painful the experience will be.

I went simple. I have a syf on my shoulder blade. It hurt at the top mostly over the bone. but the pain makes it spiritual, the pain makes it yours
