Reading Wikipedia's article for Robert Hunter today http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Hun ... yricist%29 it suggested Help>Franklins and Terrapin as his high point. I thought they were two great picks. Terrapin is of course a dead ringer, and the other too, while not immediatley in my mind, are certainly good choices.

I would suggest the following as some of Hunter's lyrical best:

Let It Grow definitely belongs on a top Barlow list.

I'd have to plump for Brokedown Palace.

But it's very hard to seperate the lyrics from the music set to them, as it was the whole package that is timeless on those songs. But if you do take them apart you realise that both elements are very strong and just as timeless as each other. Hunter made an effort not to write words that would date or could be dated, and Garcia's composing was equally as timeless and as difficult to date.

I think Ripple and Friend Of The Devil were the two most perfectly written and recorded songs the Grateful Dead ever did.

IMO, Lazy River Road is one of the best pieces done by Hunter & Garcia. It beautifully captures a time in life that many of us can think back on fondly where things seem to slow down for the good, love is ever present and at the same time we have emptiness looking back. That's my take on the song anyway...

I think what really does it for me is how the chorus "line", if you will, is changed in the bridge which gives me the chills and feeling that it's more of a person looking back with remorse where as the verses are a person reliving with joy in their mind.

Lazy is a great song, probably the best of Garcia's later work.

Don't forget that Wiki is made up of what we put on there, so it's pretty much someone opinion and it does state arguably a high point so it's someones opinion on the matter.

I didn't realise for a long period of time after first coming across it. I have done a lot of profile write ups on the imdb site and some other similar ones and someone on there asked me to do some work on the Wiki site! I didn't know up till that point. Now when you look through it you can see it. There's alot of inaccuarte stuff on there and opinion printed as fact.
