So far I am really impressed, just wish my family would get out of the house for an hour or two so that I can really mess with it. I have band practice on Sunday and I need to make sure I have it dialed in at volume before I go. Its only a 25 watt amp but it is freakin loud. I am playing through a 2x12 mesa boogie closed back rectifier cab. I also like that I can switch it down to 5 amps to play in the house but it is still loud and to dial it in at 5 amps is very different then dialing it in at 15 or 25 watts for a live gig, so I really have to get rid of the wife and kids because they would have a shit fit if I cranked it up when they were home.

I am not going for Jerry tone but you can probably dial in something close with this thing.

I've heard good things about those amps. I'm a big Boogie fan. Let me know how it does.

I had a Lonestar 10/50/100 head and I really liked it but I had to sell it because the darn thing needed so much maintenance. I had bought it second hand. It was also a little tough to dial in.

When I played out I almost always used the 10 watt setting. And I have fender twin that has a 25/100 watt switch and I almost never ever used the 100 watt setting so I am thinking this is going to be fine.

I'm sure it will be. I just started using my Mesa Mark III (w/SMS preamp) again at the half power setting and it's still way loud. Finally getting that dialed in. I used one of those 30w Gibson amps for a while and it was more than enough volume to gig with.

Congrats! I've been intrigued by that amp.

It's funny, most folks don't know how loud 10 amps really is. I did a gig this weekend with only a tuner in-line into my Pro Jr. And at 12 watts I had clean headroom left in this smaller room we played in.

I am really intrigued by the lack of mid knob. In my experience with Boogies mids are tough to dial in properly.

Quick side question for ned, I'm using a very similar rig (except a DSR preamp w/JG mods)- where does your Master Vol. like to be when used like that? Over 2.5 and the Mesa is blowing walls out .

Yes I did. I also tried a VOX Night Train, and an Orange Tiny Terror. They are all nice. Amps are really subject to personal taste. So here is my opinion in this order from the ones I tried.

1) Mesa Boogie Transatlantic
2) Vox Night Train
3) Orange Tiny Terror
4) Egnater Tweaker

Here is the reasons why I choose the boogie (of course it had to be more expensive then the others which sucks) Although I really liked the gain tone of the vox and orange ( more so then egnater) I liked the clean sound of the boogie best and the gain tone was great. I really need a two channel amp since I play lead 75% of the time I need to be able to switch to a clean sound fast the other 25% of the time.

That plus the 25 watt made it a strong choice for me if I had a larger gig. ( if I have a real large gig I have bigger amps but dont know if I will need it) I also like that I can switch it down to 5 watts for playing at home. But believe me the 5 watts can be pretty loud. The vox and the orange you were able to switch it down to 7.5 watts but I am not sure if the egnater had something like that. If it did I didnt see it.

Got about 45 minutes alone this morning. It was pretty easy to dial in a couple of different tones. It has great gain and the clean tone is really good but it is not a super clean as my roland jc-120 but then I knew it wouldn't be. At high volume not as clean as my fender twin either, but really really nice nonetheless. I was going for a lead tone sort of in the Gary Moore camp.

Feels good to be back to a tube amp. For my next gig I am going straight into the amp. All the tone will come from the amp and my fingers. Nice and simple. I have a great pedal board that will stay home!

I played the amp with the full band today. All I have to say is holy shit! I was worried it may not be loud enough and I was sacrificing volume for tone. That surely was not the case. I had plenty of volume to spare and the tone was amazing, I really had it dialed in. I played it on 15 watts not 25. Although 15 watts class A is not that much quieter then 25 watts class AB it was so loud that I played it at half volume or so.

The tone was fantastic and everyone said it is the best sound they ever heard from me. I used no effects pedals. Just the two channels of the amp and my fingers. That in itself was really freeing. My playing was inspired too. You know when you have good tone you sort of feed on it and then it gets even better and you feed on it even more. That is what it was like for me today.

So far I really give this amp the thumbs up. I hope that it remains reliable which has been a problem for me in the past with tube amps.

It was very easy. I thought it would be more difficult without the mid pot but it was a piece of cake. I havent messed with it too much with a single coil guitar yet. I plugged my resurrection bolt in for just a few minutes. ( I am waiting for a black tail piece for from pat then I'll sell it so I dont want to use it too much)

I'll try my SRV Strat next time I have the house to myself but this time I really needed to dial in my les paul. I play on neck pick up mostly. When I moved to the bridge pick up I had to back the tone down just a bit. I have a CAE preamp in it which works great.

I dont have any other cabs to try and review.

If you want to hear the tone check out this clip. I am using no effects pedals. In line is a wireless system and a tuner, nothing else. The foot switch I am using is the channel switch. ( I am the good looking guy with the baseball cap on)

This was a gig we played this weekend. Totally unrehearsed with the singer/keyboard. Nothing like going to a gig and just winging it!
