Hey now... Long-time deadhead and guitarist here, first show philly '79 to my last two in albany '95, w/many in between.
I'm in the process of putting together a Garcia-style rig, and have hit fucking paydirt when
I found this site! Tons of knowledge and expertise that have already helped me out a lot. I'm sure
I'll have more questions that'll arise on my quest for 'Jerry Tone', and I'm glad I have a place to ask 'em.
Oh, and I'm always up for a little jammin in the Bucks Co. area. I haven't been playin with anyone
for a while, and am tryin to change that. Anyway, that's it for now, and the fat man rocks!

Welcome. It's important that you identify the type of cheese you'd put on your Philly cheesesteak sammich.

There was a thread here a year or so back and think the big contenders were:
Whiz
Provolone

Cheesesteaks! Yo Strummin, personally, I prefer provolone, but have been known to vary acc.to mood...for ex., Amer for comfort (like a cross between a grilled cheese+a hearty meal prepared by mom), and Cheese Whiz for drunken abandon (like a cross between a heart attack and a stabbing, at least when the heartburn kicks in)...there really should be a Cheesesteak Cheese Chart to help navigate the murky waters of cheese...but for the most part, I stick w/Provolone! :-)

Joe,

Good luck in you're quest for tone. If you're in Philly on 11/4, I'm playing at Chris Jazz Cafe from 7-10. I'm using the SMS Preamp and Black Box with a Marchione neck-thru and OD2 for my jazz version of the Jerry sound. Stop by if you have the chance.
