Like many of you guys here i am doing a project. I am in the middle of shifting focus into my speaker situation, and what I have so far are really pleasing me. I have a commonwealth 2x12 partial open/ partial closed back that can overcome all loudness to cut in, and it gives me great tone at those loud volumes. Second, I have a BLacKWiDdOW (K-120 like) speaker as a 1x12 open back that can hold its own at high volumes too, has a different sound (more brittle/vintage sounding) than the brand new emmi's but useable nonetheless. I think the cone needs some moisture, we'll see how it works after a month of this mississippi humidity. Those are my two cabs I most often use.
I am now about to build my third and final cab which will be a 3 speaker tower of K-110's. Two speakers are 16 ohm and one is 8 ohm then use series/parallel to get 4 ohm. Does anyone here use 10" speakers in their rigs and what are your stories behind your gear? do you prefer their sound, are their draw backs? My application is on stage usually mic'd so I can use speakers that are not specifically made to be the strongest. Just looking for all and everything concerning the !0" speaker cab for lead guitar.
