Be kind, fellow heads, as this is my first attempt at conversing on a site like this . . . As a 36 year old teacher, I think all this new-fangled gadgetry has just passed me by.

I've been searching for years to determine whether a song from Blues from the Rainforest by Jerry and Merl Saunders was ever on a soundtrack. The song is called "Sunrise over Haleakala", and it's a beautiful instrumental that is quite haunting. My (oh-so-glad-he's-my) ex went to a Merl show years ago and he swears Merl referenced this song as being in a movie. Any takers on this one?

One final comment . . . It's been nice parusing the comments of those who appreciate this great band. I do so miss my summer tours!

Welcone! I'm new too. Not sure I have heard the song and a search for the song tied to a movie didn't turn up anything for me.

that Blues from the Rainforest is in my top 5 as far as Jerry side projects and I love that song. But Ive never heard it in a movie before, wouldnt surprise me though

For some reason when I hear "Sunrise Over Haleakala" I swear I have heard it either in a movie or television show. Do you have any idea if the song was in a movie or televison show? It is really bugging me. Thanks.

Hi Joe,I wrote the song in 1990 for the Rainforest CD,It has been in differant movie sound tracks for the past ten yrs all over the world,,,thanks for your concern,A music book will be coming out with a lot of songs,so you can play it. Hope to be out there soon,,,,keep it real,,,,,merl

Thanks to those who replied to my query. I wish I could find just ONE movie that I've seen that has this song, though I suppose it says something that I remember the song more than the movie! If anyone else has an idea, please feel free to respond. (Is it too anal of me to correct my misspelled "perusal" from my original message? Ya know, being a teacher and all. . . . )
