Is 2-26-77 too much of a cliche' suggestion? The eye's>dancin' is a beaut.

Not at all! I'm putting all the suggestions on my iPod since I have 160 GB now. I've got almost 7 full days worth of Dead so far so I may not hear each one right away but it'll be there in my pocket waiting for me sooner or later.

I do need more 80's and... gulp... 90s... so suggestions like Mt Tourpro's are great. Not sure I would have ever stumbled across a 1988 show on my own.

3-16-94, yes '94. Pre-drums is real nice. Phil made a comment about this show in one of the fan mags as being unbelievable(paraphrasing). It sounded sick to me from DFC of the tapers section.

Thanks all, and keep em coming! I have Hogan's 3/16/94 Rosemont show playing right now and it is really nice!

Bah.... just screwed up and switched to 7/2/88... I don't quite have this iPod figured out yet, the controls are not like my old one. Ok, back. I need a miracle, every day!

Always loved the woody tone he got on the 6/28/85 show....sounds awesome...and he is LOUD on some of the circulating boards.

Check out his playing on a very rare second set pre-drums Tom Thumb Blues.....Phil does a riff between verses that still makes my neck hair stand.

Check it out on this recording....

Tom Thumb........Phils riff is at 1:38

Check out the August '91 shoreline/cal ex shows. Not totally sure about this, but i think he is playing a new Smith bass at these shows and his tone is pretty different. Could be new strings, i don't really know. The same tone continues into that fall tour. Check out the crispy(perhaps over crispy) boards from that tour. Some of the Boston Garden first sets in particular come to mind. Phils shit is way out front and snappy.

Good call on that one. Check out the Dew from that same show. I was there and remember thinking that Phil had most definitely blown up some speakers at the end.
