I see there are a few of us "going there" so let's talk through this! I've dabbled in it myself over the years and taking the next plunge with the 11rack.

My current thinking is simplicity with great sonic abilities while keeping my rack and using as desired.

I think where I've failed in the past with some of my attempts is personal monitoring. I've gotten my board feed to sound great but the only time I ever sounded on stage like I did on my board feed was when I split my signal into an old GK bass amp (or used a dedicated monitor which rarely can ever happen). Then I started thinking more and more about this and Vic I think you are using QSC active monitors (right?), and my mega let down going XT > poweramp > monitor wedge....

Now I am starting to speculate that a key component to the "final processed" sound must come from an additional low-tone shaping preamp like ones that are found on mixing boards and also powered monitor wedges who call them processors as part of their circuit for input gain, output and sometimes eq.

Anyone have any insight? What else have y'all learned!

I dont know much about these but, I have owned the Digitech 2120 and the Pod Pro and both of those units got sold away long ago. I have also considered going with the Axefx. The simple fact of having a 2 space rack instead of my 20+rack and cabs and cables is very inviting to me. Good thread for sure I would like to know as much as possible about these new modelers. The main thing for me is learning how to set the parameters.

JD, I'm waiting for an ElevenRack to come in for my newest test rig.

I really like how it has 3 outputs of which 2 can be customized on what it sends with the 3rd being XLR which sends everything.

Now I was doing some testing this weekend with my SansAmp. L6 M13 > SansAmp >
1 - PA Poweramp > Main
2 - Guitar PowerAmp > Main
3 - Guitar PowerAmp > 2x12
4 - Mixer (powered) > mains

In theory, all 3 should work out just wonderfully. However only mixer > mains worked out well.

This is what was driving my current line of thinking that something in the circuitry (small preamp?) of an active main/monitor helps to processes that signal similarly to a mixing board (set flat) to truly replicate what is done and balance out some levels.
