Without the extra green to get a nice Mu-tron III, I've decided to go with a Q-Tron. The question...are all regular Q-Tron's the same? No difference in years produced, or anything like that?

Thanks Pat! Thanks Ed!

I wasn't talking about the + at all. I was going more for the older regular Q-Trons compared to the regular Q-Trons that can still be bought new. Like old style to new style.

I don't think there is any difference. S/B the same controls and internal electronics but could be wrong.

FYI- when I got into using it I found a lot of recommended settings online and they varied a lot. The recommended settings QTron provided in the instructions for the MuTron sound didn't sound the best to me.

These things are a lot of fun to play around with. I've found single coils sound better than humbuckers and you need distortion for it to really sound good.

Besides the effects loop, the Q-Tron+ has a response knob to select "between a slow, smooth, vowel-like attack and the fast, snaked response of the original Q-Tron."

In researching the differences between the two, (Harmony Central, EHX forums, etc.) I read that a few people had problems with some of the older Q-Tron's and they seem to think they've been resolved with the plus model. FWIW.
