Are there any combinations of wood to stay from when making a layered body? I'm not making a Jerry replica guitar exactly just using some major idea's from Stephen Cripe's Eagle . It's not going to be semi Hollow-body though.

But back to the main question, can I get some help on wood combinations, for now let's say 3 or 4 different kinds of wood, I was a more warmer tone but not to muddy. So far I had in mind a rosewood top, but as far as the core I am lost.\

Hah, I was looking at that about 10 minutes ago. Would A rose wood veneer on the top and bottom of a Hard maple core be alright with tone? I also plan on using A maple neck with ebony fretboard. I am not sure but warmoth says that Maple will produce a really bright sound and so will ebony and I I am using Maple in my neck and body.
I plan on using Harmonic Z90 pickups if that helps at all .

Check out Alembic's site. Somewhere tucked away in a hard-to-find area is a great discussion on different tonewoods and their sonic characteristics. I believe they even have two of these pages, and the better one is harder to find.

And I made my mind up on the wood - It's going to Rose wood veneers slightly fatter then normal on the top and bottom with a flamed maple core.

Yep, that's the one! They also have a great page that oulines the top woods and neck laminate woods, I believe.

There are many kinds of Rosewood, and pure rosewood is getting very rare (meaning Endangered) and expensive. I have a Ziricote fretboard on my bass and it looks fantastic. I'm just sorry it's hidden behind strings and frets.



I'm also quite fond of Coco-bolo. It's what Irwin used on Tiger and Rosebud and looks amazing.
