When it doesn't fit anywhere else

OFFTOPIC: I reregistered today, because I think my account must've gotten deleted due to inactivity or something.
OFFTOPIC2: Saw the Dead in Uniondale NYC last friday, was awesome. After I got home I downloaded the album in loseless quality (approximately 1G in size for the whole concert).

So since Speeding Arrows gone and archive.org is all streaming only, I was curious where all the deadheads on these forums get their music now!

I was curious if you guys knew about working torrents and even more specifically private tracker torrents and maintaining ratios, because that's how I get my music now.

Some worry about ratio, some don't. I always try to seed more than I download, so that I am helping the music to reach others, as that strikes me as the kind thing to do.

Hey Emoto,
I've just recently started downloading shows from several of the sites that you mentioned. Can you fill me in on how you seed? I would like to give back to other for all the great stuff I have received. Thanks for your help.

Well, I can't speak to other bit torrent clients, but I use Vuze (formerly Azereus) and when I want to seed a show that I have downloaded, all I have to do is open the torrent file in the same manner as when I first DL'd and Vuze tells me words to the effect of "hey, you've already got that" and when you say "ok" it checks to see that all files are present, then automatically seeds them.

Also, when DL'ing, Vuze switches to seeding after all files have been DL'ed, so I just leave it running for a few days after I get a show, and that lets other grab it from me.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for info! I never knew there was something I could do to help other in regards to the music. I will look into how the program I use works.

Here's what the Vuze console looks like (I think they call this the classic view; out of the box it sets up differently, but you can change to this view).

Files that are still DL'ing (leeching) are in the top window. You can see I have one show still at 0% and one at 99.8%

The lower window shows files that have completed DL'ing and are now seeding or queued for seeding. The tracker automatically "talks" with the client and makes things happen.

there are however some very nice AUDS at the archive if that helps. I prefer (in most cases) a nice crisp, clean board--but there are some AUDS that outshine the SBs

I think it's like anything else - personal preference plays a big role. Some like the excitement of crowd noise, others want the clear, crisp details of every note played. There are a number of shows where someone has taken the time and effort to merge an AUD with a SBD to try to give the best of both worlds. For those who may not know, they call these a "matrix".

SBD's up the proverbial wazoo!!!
I looked at this and have never done anything "torrent" before. But what a s***load of boards!

Do I have to purchase the paretoLogic software? That is not a problem I just wanted to check before I purchased.

Also, will I be able to put these SBD's on my Ipod? Itunes?

Thanks for the help also any pointers for the slower of us would be a big help
