sorry to start another new thread on this subject but there's so much info out there I needed to freshen things up

short answers are fine... what do you consider the best auto-wah/envelope filter that retails NEW for less than $200 for getting a good Jerry tone (i.e. Shakedown, Estimated)

right now the EH Q-Tron Plus is at the top of my list
second place is the MXR M-120 Auto Q

HELP! :D

Probably more than $200 - but with a name like "Shakedown" it could be cool...
I have a mini or micro Qtron - I like it.Works.Small on the pedal board.Have heard they bust but mine is fine after a few beers ...
Blows the Boss Auto-Wah away.Yuck.
There is a Boss T-Wah Ive heard of that is good- E-Bay ?
Of course there is always the Emma which is popular in Chicago - I think new they are over $200
:D :D :D :D

The EH Q-Tron is about $160. Electronically, it is the same thing as a Mu-Tron III. Designed by the same guy and sells for about 1/2 the price. Best bang for the buck and you can mimic Jerry's 'Estimated' or 'Shakedown' tone - from ANY year - if you know how to work it to a 'T'. PLUS, you can invert it, just like the Mu-Tron III, and get that sound from the '77 'Dancin' in the Streets'. Sickleberry....

i have to EH Q-tron plus and i really like the sounds i get out of it. You can come really close to the Mutron III sounds with this pedal hope this helps. Never hurts to stop by your local dealer and try a few of them out that way you can't go wrong.

There doesn't seem to be a shortage of MuTron III's on Ebay the last 6 months or so.
Gotta love the Mu!

They're same thing. The manufacture of the effect calls it what they want.

A typical auto-wah circuit uses an envelope follower to produce a voltage representing the overall volume of the input. This signal is then used to sweep the cutoff frequency of a filter. The filter usually has a low pass or bandpass response.
