"There's no seats up here"

Good audience recording there, crowd sounds pretty giddy for 76

Your favorite band is touring after hiatus - I'd be giddy too!

unfortunately for phish nothing after hiatus is worthy of giddy  the dead came off their hiatus much cleaner

I wouldn't say much cleaner. '74 was a very special year, as was '72. Sure '77 was a powerhouse but pre-hiatus they weren't putting out shoddy material.

They( GD, Phish) are 2 different machines completely. The Dead took a hiatus to regroup and branch out a little. They we're almost a different band. Much more jazzy in my opinion. It seems like their musical abilities just blossomed during that break.

im really not all that knowledgable about Phish history, so i don't know their reasons. I would imagine they we're driven a lot more by Trey's drug habits.
