Just wondering if any of you had experienced any "hating" on your guitar? I know of a few people so far that have said some rather negative things to me regarding my 'Doc replica, and I haven't even gotten it yet!!! :x

So what's the deal with these people? It kinda makes me feel bad, to be honest. Makes me second guess my purchase & whether or not I should have done it, makes me feel uncomfortable about playing it out, and how people may view it/me. Anyways, I didn't really want to throw this out there, it was kinda of hard for me to bring it up, but being here in this forum so long, I figured this was a good a place as any to get some feedback.

Much obliged.

I have a resurrection bolt replica and i love the thing. Looks great but most important sounds amazing. I had the guitar made to my specs by talking with tim and pat over the phone several times. Replicas are expensive so make sure you get what you payed for let the luther know exactly what you want for the price your willing to pay.

Many people are petty, jealous assholes in this world.

A player with a good job can afford nice gear.

And you have lots of players that don't have good jobs who are jealous and shoot nasty remarks.

It's something you see on TheGearPage.

I have a good job, no kids, and made music the only hobby I put money and time into these days. So it gets a good amount of both. I've gotten a nasty comment or two in my day but fuck em it's usually jealousy and a real friend would be happy for you.

I agree with strumminsix some people are going to be haters and thats their problem not yours. Remember we cant make everyone like us. I feel the guitar is a very personal (tool) that should be chosen by the played for his or her purposes only. If others like the instument cool but their opinon should be irrelavent to your choice of axe to use. The music that it produces is the gift for others to enjoy.

I don't understand what people could possibly be hatin' on; I thought there ain't no time to hate...

I saw the pics you posted of your 'doc-in-utero, and that thing is bee-yew-tee-full. Unless you feel like you are being financially irresponsible (that's a projection, not an implication), I can see no reason for you to doubt your purchase.

I will say, however, that sometimes I get a little urked when unskilled players flaunt high priced gear, thinking that the MSRP will somehow compensate for (or perhaps obscure) mediocrity. That just seems like a waste of someone's hard work.

Forget what they think. Everyone's got their own opinions. If you like the guitar you bought and are happy with it than that's all that counts.

I have a Resurrection Bolt and I've never heard anything but praise for both the looks and the sounds of the guitar.

So for anyone that might dis you for it... fuck 'em - most will be in awe

Oh geez you have a very high quality custom made guitar that resembles a guitar played by one of the best guitarist that ever lived! That sounds awful!

I think that it has something to do with the fact that it is a replica of Jerry's guitar. I just ordered a warren haynes Les Paul ( coming tomorrow ) but I doubt I will hear people give me that kind of shit simply because it was made by gibson and it is a les paul. Even though my guitar was mostly machine made and mass produced and still cost thousands of dollars.

I am trying to figure out why and the only thing is that some people are just jealous assholes that dont have open enough minds to realize it is a great axe.

Jedi - sort of, yeah. That's what bothered me & irked me a little.

And thanks for the responses guys. My attitude falls in line with most of the stuff y'all are saying. Fuck 'em. For whatever reason, a reason I don't get, but I guess there's always gonna be haters. Got a call over the weekend and it should be here this week. Will post pics & audio fo' sho'.

Oh, Yeah, I have seen these pic's... Killer looking guitar(s)!
I got it now... 'I wasn't familiar with Languedoc, but found out he made guits for Phish.
I recalled that Garrison made a Doc Watson tribute acoustic, and for some reason thought of that.

languadoc, treys old guitars were made by paul languadoc.

dude i spent alot of money on a guitar this summer, i had worked for a long time saving up for it and TONS of people gave me shit about it. "yeah well i'd have a guitar that nice if my parents were rich too" i cant count how many times i've had to explain i worked for months on end for my guitar, even after that i got nasty comments. i know what it's like but in the end i'd rather play my nice guitar with it's nice look/sound then fold to public pressure and play something cheaper looking

Seems weird to me... the rude commment thing, that is.
In the Pedal Steel Guitar world, no one even blinks untill ya get up to ~$6k price range... and even then all ya get are compliments on the choices you made that led to the final product.
$25-$3500.00 is the norm.
I hope to have some kind of cool Jerry tribute guitar, some day.
