I don't know how many of you guys are familiar with meetups (www.meetup.com). Its a community web site where people with similar interests, in the same geographic area can get to know each other and get together as a group. Raleigh has a Grateful Dead Meetup Group (http://gratefuldead.meetup.com/171/). There are 34 registered members. They have been holding the "meetups" at our shows. It has been one of our ways of networking within our audience base. Support by the meetup group members has been great and we have met some very good musicians and some great people who have the love of The Grateful Dead in common.
If you're playing in a Dead oriented band check out to see if there is a meetup group in your area, or a listing of people interested in joining one if someone was to start one up.
