Yea its his real name. His Uncle is Butch Trucks dummmer for the Allmans and he was named aftrer Derek and the Domminos.Fitting since Clapton asked him to tour with him last year and they played a lot of DATD stuff

I have a DVD of the Allmans at the Beacon. Derek is an incredible slide player. Him and Warren in the same band is sick. He does some pretty ecclectic stuff with his band.

i grew up on long island and live in NYC city now so i have had the honor of seeing the allman brothers about 4+ times a year during there beacon theatre runs, starting when i was in high school in about 94 or 95.

I love dickey and always will and think he is amazing but seeing warren and derek together is such a treat. But i have to admit i love Derek on the slide and think he is the best out there when it coms to the slide guitar and them warren who is in my top 5 for improvisational masters.

What a great talent that kid is. His wife is a bit cheesey though. I heard them do a weight and she sang it and it was powerful bt just a bit to cheesey fr me and the allmans.
