When it doesn't fit anywhere else

lemme start off by saying rock band, guitar hero, whatever it is, totally blows imo. i'm not sure about you guys but i think someone fucked up big when they sold the deads souls out to developer Harmonix. it'll win new fans maybe, but it's just such a sell out. i dunno maybe cause every person i've ever told i play guitar to, asks "whoa so you're really good at guitar hero right!?!?" that i dislike it so much but...

i'd rather play real guitar for people than a shitty hunk of plastic

no i cant play jessica by buckethead on real guitar so, since you can play it on a plastic one i guess you're better than me

i'm probably not gonna get alot of people on my side but, alot of my friends are die hard guitar hero people. i'm just saying learning how to make real music is alot more talented than pressing the correct combination of buttons in time

to top off my anger another one of the publishers is mtv. the dead have been sold to mtv in some way shape or form. this is the worst thing since go to heaven

ehhhh.... its only a game, i personally suck at it b ut then again i cn play a real guitar and that goes alot further. i guess guitar hero is just a way of musically challeged people to feel like they have some talent (in a fictioanl universe anyway)

You're right- I totally disagree w/you.Never played it,never seen anyone play it.Don't have a clue how it works.Sounds like something for the kiddies. When I saw the headline thing about it I said(to myself)"Wonder if anyone will figure out how to isolate the tracks to play real guitar to?"I like playing along to stuff and I'm wondering if this could be a cool practice thing.Ya know-take the tracks from the game and put them on a cd or something.18 songs-there must be a few good ones in there. As far as for "selling the souls of the dead.."-I think they are the ones selling out.Cant download sb's anymore so the Dead can sell you cds.Its 2007 and they want money. So why bother worrying about it?MTV? C'mon man they are soooo done....again why bother?Anyway whats so wrong w/selling your soul to Satan?Peace......

im not a guitar hero fanatic or anything, but i ve played it and i thought it was pretty fun. I dont see how a guitar player could be so against it, that would be like a bank teller not wanting to be the banker in monopoly becuase it offends them. There will always be video games and and little kids to play them, so why cant they do it with "the gratest rocknroll band ever"?? I see no selling out here by the dead either, just think of it as another medium for their music in this new aged day of ours. Selling out is used out of context alot these days. they could have sold GD barbie dolls and not be sell outs becuase it didnt affect the way they handled there business on stage.
Beside what really matters, the music, is still availible for free listening and trading

Man, I don't understand this argument. Why would people be offended/upset by this? Especially when you consider _how_ upset/offended people are by this. All the anger these games generate, you'd think by playing these games you'd be signing up for a lifetime subscription to the Vince Welnick Fan Club or something. Then I could understand the anger. :)

It's a game. It's fun. That's why people play it. For years and years and years, we've all played Madden/NHL/NBA/etc. No one really ever argued (with the vitriol that Guitar Hero brings about) that playing those games is nothing like playing real football/hockey/etc. Yeah, the real thing is always better--that's why this are called video games. Driving a real racecar is totally unlike the video game equivalent, but you don't have people slag off on how they'd rather be racing than playing a stupid game with a stupid plastic controller.

Guitar Hero (and Rock Band) are rhythm games. My wife can't play guitar to save her life, but she'll kick the shit out of most people in GH. It's fun. It's more fun to play real guitar, but sometimes people don't want real life and they just want to have fun for a bit. Playing GH doesn't diminish real guitarists or the thousands of hours of work that went into learning the guitar. If anything, it would be cool if this game gets more people interested in playing "real" music.

I guess I could understand this attitude if it came from people that don't play/like _any_ video games, but a lot of the anger comes from people who play/like video games, just not these type of games.

I love GH/GH II. I didn't buy a PS2 until I saw those games and then I bought it strictly to play those two games (I have more now, but that was the original intent). There's no way I'm going to buy an Xbox360/PS3 to play Rock Band, but it is tempting. I'd love to be able to play Dead songs in Guitar Hero.

My plastic guitars rule!!!! :)

it doesn't upset or offend me, but everytime i've ever tried it ive just been like "this is stupid, thats not how my fingers should be moving to make those sounds"

so really its just confusing to me, when ppl are playin i usually just take out my guitar and jam with em ;)

I dont get it, its like a musical Simon, remember Simon? its just a novelty kids toy. I've got Frogger on my cellphone, thats my vid game fix.

i gotta say my all time favorite video game is Asteroids. with Street Fighter 2 trailing close behind. i miss the old arcade in my town, its where all the Heads hung out and played pool. the same Heads who took me under their wing and made a follower out of me 8)

I don't see it as a big deal, it's a game and a bit of fun.

guess i sorta overreacted, i'm just sick of guitar heros laughing at the fact i cant play buckethead . my main problem is dead music being in possession of mtv. if the new generation of dead fans are anything like the dmb people i want out :? (not really of course)

I sorta agree with gratefulphish on this too. I cant really dislike a videogame, but at the same time I really do dislike the whole idea of it, especially the dead being involved.
