Thursday, August 2:
10:30 pm-- The Schwag: So-so. If DSO is dank, The Schwag is schwag.
Friday, August 3:
4:30 pm-- Del McCoury Band: Great fun; I only caught the last half. Walked in during Foggy Mountain Breakdown. It was soothing to hear traditional bluegrass.
8:00 pm-- String Cheese Incident: Of the three nights, this had the best sets. Cameo by Del McCoury Band. It's SCI, no more explanation hype needed.
Saturday, August 4:
2:00 am-- EOTO: Awesome. EOTO is a Michael Travis and Keith Moseley (from SCI) looping side-project. Travis played guitar, bass, synthesizer, and various electronic gadgets. Moseley played drums and percussion. One set, one song.
6:00 pm-- Los Lobos: Caught the last two songs. Ended with a Dead jam, one of which I'll recall later.
8:00 pm-- String Cheese Incident: Sets were filled with lots of spacey, heady jams. Cameos by Los Lobos (played Neil Young's Down By The River) and Chris Berry.
12:30 pm-- The Greyboy Allstars: Excellent funk, jazz, and blues. Karl Denson was great. It was one of those shows were it seemed impossible not to dance. I definitely plan on catching more of GBA on tour.
Sunday, August 5:
5:00 pm-- Yonder Mountain String Band: Standard YMSB show. Nothing exceptional, no surprises.
7:00 pm-- String Cheese Incident: I had the most fun this night, although the sets weren't as fine as the first night. Cameo by YMSB-- they played John Hartford's Steam Powered Aeroplane, one of my favourite tunes (it blew my mind)-- and Drew Emmitt of Leftover Salmon playing some monster mandolin.
Next festival: Log Jam '07; August 17-18, 2007. Artists: Trampled by Turtles, The Big Wu, White Iron Band, Vince Herman and Friends, Charlie Parr, God Johnson, and Pert' Near Sandstone.
