Earlier today I was thinking about rider contracts (as in what the venue has to provide for the band) and what the Grateful Dead would have in theirs.

My guesses might be:

Pall Malls for Jerry.
Wine and/or PB&J for Phil.

I just re-watched the GD Movie the other night, based on that
I think cupcakes was also part of the deal.

I would suspect in the later years Bobby would want some health food or something.

I don't know what Mickey or Billy might want though.

Not exactly a rider per se, but in the McNally book there is a shopping list from one of the production assistants in the 80s. Mickey wants 2 pairs of New Balance running shoes, speakers, tango CDs and headphones. Ram Rod wants a Jane's military aircraft book and 5 rolls of film....

a little off topic...Considering that Mickey wrote Fire on the Mountain (OK, lyrics by Hunter) and the first line is about a "long distance runner", I always figured maybe he was a runner. Used to listen that song while I was stretching before runs.

i have been fearful of ever saying this in public for fear someone would use this before i got a chance, but i always thought The Long Distance runners or Long Distance Runners, would be a cool name for a band, as it would be a nod to the one of my favorite dead tunes.
