my third fret overhangs the bottom of my neck right at the G on the E. while im soloing occasionally the string gets caught under the overhanging fret. i think this is a common problem with cheaper model guitars such as my Samick/Valley arts strat copy. my question is whether or not its cool to file that little peice down a notch. i kinda dont think its a good idea, but my string got caught twice in the middle of an awsome "eyes" solo. when i stopped to fix the string the whole band stopped - cant have that now can we?

I would try hand filing it down and see how it works. In the alternative take it to your local dealer where you bought it and their repair person may do it for you for free if not real cheap. It should not have left the store that way.

I had the same problem when I had my squier strat. I didnt bother tryin to file it though because it happend at like 10 different frets lol. But thats what happens when you get a low end guitar. Filin it down should be alright though. Just take it real slow

ok ill try givin it a few swipes with a file.its the tiniest little peice hangin over , but its just enough to snag. i just didnt to harm the instrument. thanks guys
