Hey All,
I'm considering a new project guitar and I am looking for some clarification on a topic that I don't fully grasp. I want to have a 3 humbucker set up with, but be able to coil tap all three pickups. My question is that with a strat wiring, will the tapped humbuckers strat-quack in the 2 and 4 position? - do Rosebud or Bolt guitars quack?

Secondly, would you wire the tone knobs to be Neck = front tone pot, Middle and Bridge = rear tone knob?

My Phiga Eagle with 3 Super II''s when split, will quack on the 2 and 4. Maybe not as much quack as my strats but I definitely can pull off some Knopfler type tones.

As for the tone controls, I personally like the middle and neck on the first tone pot and the bridge by itself on a tone pot. Most of the time my middle and neck stay dimed on the tone and the bridge is usually rolled off a few notches. I would think it's all personal preference on that topic tho.

What kind of pickups are planning with the guitar?

I am also in the middle of a guitar build with a HHH pickup config.

I am going to have Lollar High Winds in the neck and bridge, and a super ii in the middle. I am planning a split for each pickup.

I am using a 5 way switch with the middle and bridge swapped. Position 1-3 will be neck and bridge, and the middle will be position 5. I went with neck and bridge combined tone(0.015 cap), and middle having it's own tone control (0.022 cap).

I am thinking about adding a push push pot to put the pickups in series(n +b), but I am still working out the diagram.

Interesting, I'd always used those terms interchangeably. Yes, the effect I want to achieve is to split the coils.

Therein lies the question. The idea isn't to make a Rosebud clone, so I'd like to use some vintage wind humbuckers for the neck and bridge and a Dimarzio Super2 for the middle (probably should have put this in the intro). So the question is with that quack be achievable with the hotter middle pickup in the mix.
