I am reluctantly selling this very cool Hondo II Neck-Thru guitar. Thought I'd give this community first shot at it.
It has a "chunky" neck that everyone who plays it either loves or hates. Unfortunately, I'm in the later group. If I liked the neck, I'd keep the guitar and turn it into a "Poor Man's Cowboy." Alternatively, it would make a nice "Jerry" guitar with the addition of a middle humbucker and OBEL (plenty of room in the cavity for more electronics). It kinda looks like an Alembic Copy.

I've had a tough time finding any real info on this guitar. I believe it is most likely from the late 70s (saw one on YouTube that claims it's from 1978). The body/wings look like Walnut and the 7 piece neck-thru appears to be a combination of Walnut and Maple, but those are just my and my other guitarist's (who is a cabinet maker and carpenter) best guess. The fretboard appears to be Rosewood. The previous owner added a Graph Tech nut and Schaeller tuners. It appears that it was owned by a lefty at some point as there is a mark on the bottom horn that looks like it was a strap button. Overall, the guitar is in great shape, just a few small dings. There is a lot of checking in the neck binding, but nothing loose. The volume knob is a little scratchy around 9 or 10. The pickup selector switch is missing its tip. It's missing one screw in the bridge PU holder.
Most Hondos were built in Korea, but many believe these nicer guitars from the late 70s and early 80s were made in Japan. The guitar has no indication of where it was made, nor a serial number. Many upper-end Hondos came with DiMarzio PUs in this time frame, but these aren't marked. They sound great to my ear, I would keep them if I was keeping the guitar. There is a coil tap switch, one volume, one tone.
