I thought I'd post this one as it's the first time I've tried this particular electronics approach, and combined it with a 24 fret Tiger type body build... I over wound the pups to Bridge 6.8k, Mid 6.35k, and Neck at 6.05k, aiming to get a beefier sound at lower volumes. The overall is aimed at Alligator, with a couple of twists. I placed a Blaster after the 250k volume control, with the OBEL at that point, so it would act as Alligator, Blaster to effects. I returned the signal to the guitar, not for any good reason except that Jeff, the new owner, uses the OBEL setup on his other Garcia models and I wanted this one to easily fit in to the equipment setup. The signal can the be kicked up with a Booster/Buffer if desired and out to the amp. So, it can be a regular passive Strat configuration, an Alligator/Blaster config, that with a kick in the end, or, which really adds some nice qualities, both preamps used in tandem. The bridge and mid pups are in the standard Strat positions, and because of the 24 frets, the neck pup is moved toward the bridge, making it more usable to my taste. If the desire is to just use it as Alligator, or typical player usage, just skip the OBEL cable, leave the switch off and go out the signal send jack, both preamps are available, either/or and both. I really like how it turned out... I'm going to have to make myself one with this electronic setup now "o) And the combination of the Walnut and Padauk really sounds particularly nice...
