Has anyone ever figured out which guitars Weir used for the most shows while playing with the Grateful Dead? I'm guessing that the black Casio/Moduolus is up there at the top or near the top of this list. Any other thoughts?

Also, regarding the Casio, does anyone know what pickups were in it? The pictures I can find show what looks like a Strat middle and bridge with another one in between them. EMG's? Did it ever have the humbucker in the bridge with the two single coils in the neck and middle like the original Casio model?

Finally, does anyone know when Bob last played it in public? Was it ever used in Ratdog or Furthur?

The first ones to come to mind were the red Gibson ES-345 of the 60's and early 70's, and the Cowboy Fancy Ibanez, although there were more than one of those...

I’ll answer your question nearly ten years later Bobby had several Modulus/Casios starting in 88’. Two white ones (strat & pointy modulus necks). In April 89’ he debuted his first black PG-380 with the 3 EMG SA’s bunched down near the bridge. He played this one through August of 91’…so 2 1/4 years but occasionally played Pinky and a couple other Casio’s.

Other customizations on his “main” Casio were 4 mini toggles vs a blade switch and a brass “fathead” on the back of the headstock. In Sept of 91’ Bobby brought out a new Black PG-380 with the more standard HSH pickup configuration, and played that pretty solidly in 92 & 93 and intermittently in 94/95 along with his BMW Blackknife and Trussart.

“No Fun” was played 83-86 but with the Koa Blackknife also played during this time. He also played at least two Cowboys off and on from 76-83. So hard to say what was the most played.
