I've been curious about the Dimarzio FS-1 for early '78 tone, so I tried one out in the mid position on my Strat. Couldn't find any FS-1 clips here in the forums, so I thought I'd post the results in case anyone else has had the same thought. The FS-1 was released in 1974. Not that Jerry ever used one, probably, but what the heck.
I actually like it more than the SDS-1 but not as much as the partially unwound SDS-1, which is brighter. That's ironic, because the FS-1 is even darker than the stock SDS. Go figure.
Amp is an Allen Sweet Spot with a ceramic Weber Cali (paper) and JBL K110 in a TMR open-back pine cab. The backup is a loop pedal and a Dimarzio Class of '55 in the neck position. Recorded at low volume on a Zoom H2.
