Hey RUKINDers!
My bluegrass band Crossties just opened for Jeff Austin formerly of the Yonder Mountain String Band at the Lyric Theatre in Blacksburg, Virginia last night. I was a super fun night. Jeff and his band were very nice and gracious. Danny Barnes, his banjo player used to play in a band called the Bad Livers that was a super cool act. We opened for them probably 20 years ago at a bar that was just around the corner from the Lyric. I shot some video of our set, Jeff had posted that he wanted no recording or pictures so I didn't go there. Needless to say, those guys can play. I did video our set. He did a nice version of Sisters and Brothers.

I don't know how many bluegrassers are out there but it's more fun than a barrel of monkeys playing nude twister. I've been doing it for a little more than 20 years (playing bluegrass, not the barrel of nude monkeys thing). We've had the same lineup for about 15 years and recently added Avery Davis on fiddle, that girl can really play! We do a simple old-time set up. We use 2 mics on stage for everything (the bass player uses an amp but not in the house). Let me know what y'all think :D

Blue Ridge Cabin Home (1:43-4:36)

No doubt - he kills it. I didn't get a chance to talk to him last night but seemed super nice. His mom was there :-)
