Has anyone here used a trim pot to set-and-forget the gain on their onboard blaster? If so, which pot did you use, and more importantly, where did you find it? Or is the preferred method to use a resistor instead? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I have a GGG blaster and have been using a 50k reverse log pot(IIRC) that is disguised as a tone control for the gain, but am starting to think I can live with the blaster gain being fixed if I can have the second tone control.

Or, if you want it fixed, measure the resistance thru the pot at the desired gain level, and put a resistor in with that value...

As a historic note: I fell into an original Alembic Sratoblaster (black plastic jackplate) and it has a trimpot to adjust gain. That said I don't change it really (it requires a jewelers screwdriver to be fed thru a hole in the plate just like the modern ones).

For those that use the blaster, what do you typically set the gain at? I have an EMG blaster in my secondary guitar that has a trim pot that will allow up to 20db additional gain. I was actually afraid to use it on my SMS as I wasn't sure if cranking additionally modified levels into the SMS would cause any damage.
