in the process of purchasing keyboard. It is for a beginner. I would like something that wont become obsolete and that they can grow into. The guy at the music store suggested definately 88 keys and weighted. Beyond that he wasnt much help.
any suggestions would be appreciated.

I too would suggest 88 keys and weighted. No matter what happens with regard to the beginner's musical career, it'll always be worth a bit less than what you pay....just be sure to get something that has a very good piano sound before worrying about bells and whistles.

Why not just grab a decent free piano you can find in any local pennysaver, ect....plenty of folks just waiting for someone to come take away their piano for free. Worse case scenario is you have ton pay someone to move it for you.
