I just pulled down this GD MP3 Compilation. I can post a link if thats cool with the RUKIND admins. So... Is it cool?

This collection was put together in conjunction with Deadbase XI,
from the section on "Favorite versions" of each song.

In some cases, the best "rated" version was not available or was an "official Release".
In those situations, the next ranked version was then used instead.

While the "Best Version" of a performance may be debatable.
I think all will agree that this is a great collection of "live dead".

Notes:
- Most songs are SBD's versions, only when SBD's weren't available AUD was used.
- All these songs fit on one 80 minute CD-R in MP3 format.

none of the performances are ever the same. I don't think it's possible to pick one version of a song over all the others. too hard.

ah yeah the Survey from DB VI, which is what mine is. It's a pretty tiny survey group (229 respondees, 208 male/ 21 female)
and back in 1991, these are just folks working off of what was in their tape collection (probably extremely limited compared to what is available now, even among hardcore collectors of the time) or shows they had actually attended, or what someone told them was the best ever... I disagree with just about every single top-ranked version, although in 1991 I might have given similar answers to many of these.

We just have access to a lot more of the music these days and we communicate to each other about it. In the old days, you often got just the opinion of the one guy you knew that had that one show... so you dropped off or mailed some tapes... hopefully you got back a competently dubbed tape of a decent recording of a worthy performance... that's why I don't freak out when the SBDs get taken off of the archive, because it's all out there now at least.

Wouldn't it be KINDa cool if there was a link to a mp3 with each tab / crd on the site. I think it would help everyone learn how to play the song. It would be alot of work... I would help do it.

bummer. thankfully i got it in time.

also, my cd burner started to work again today. for the first time since january, it works right as i dl this stuff! thats bonkers!

do they have any other things like this? i would love an updated list. cause like TS said, this is old. these people werent working with much.

I also agree. I've often thought that some of my tabs must look like Greek to some folks, w/o having something to listen to for reference.

I'd asked a friend to help me out with the needed pc software etc. on my end, just haven't gotten around to it yet.
