what this will do for a Les Paul Standard into a Bugera amp? no effects pedals, just playing with basics right now. Thanks.

edit to add: review of said product talked of db's which I know nothing about, but I am a science nerd so I know physics and advanced math

second edit: also am curious if a rack mount like this needs to be kept level aka perpendicular to the walls

It's not going to do much. It's just a more complicated, some say more percise way to adjust your treble, mids and bass. Instead of just using three knobs on the amp.

Most rack mount equiptment can be stood on end with no problem.

Definitely more precise as you can individually control 1/15th of the frequencies instead of roughly 1/3, but there's not really much point in running a guitar through one. Les Pauls sound great as they are!

The more common use for rackmount EQs is in a PA to prevent microphone feedback. You can lower the individual frequency that's feeding back and still have the original sound mostly unaffected. Or if you're a better soundman than I am, you can shape the sound to fit the exact room that you're in.

Just be aware of the signal levels in and out.

other wise you may introduce noise or it may not work correctly.
