I used to have one back in the late 90's. Killer sound but a bit too heavy (85 lbs) for weekly gigs so I sold it to a buddy.

Hard to find ANY McIntosh amp for less than $500.

One thing to consider, if you find one cheap there is probably problems associated with it. Anyone with a good mac wants the value from it. The old Macs are like having an old BMW or Indian Motorcycle, no parts in small towns and the repair man will knock you into the $$$$ level you don't want to be. Unless you can fix old amps easily, and have connections to get parts, ie have a buddy at a Audio Classics, which is more important!

Stu is able to play big halls and outdoor places with his MC 250, I am thinking for me, the 100 watt version will more than foot the bill even outdoors. Or, I hope so. You must have an idea/need for 200 watts, huh? Those amps will put a slip in your disk for sure weight wise!

They also always mic his speakers and have a good PA which makes a big difference. I've played several gigs where my MC50 got a little too distorted at times. Especially as the night went on and my ears needed more volume (and the rest of the band is loud).

100 watts should be good for any gig though if your rig is not mic'd.

Got a very nice mcintosh 2100 today. I Cant wait to put it through its paces wednesday night at our next practice. I fired it up with my rig but couldnt really open it up to much at home. So far, so good!
