Hey guys, I have a good friend who has several guitars and is willing to sell me a Jay Turser 133-nh for 200$. Its white, and is almost brand as new he never plays it (he has an olp guitar that he seems to mostly play as well as an ovation acoustic), no dents dings or even really any fretboard ware really the only time it gets played is when i go over to his house to jam. he traded an amp for it from another guy he knows. im thinking its a good deal, but i was just wondering if any of you guys had any experience with Tursers and had any thoughts on them

I have never had a Turser although I have seen them. I think they are probably a fine entry level Fenderish guitar. I like Ebay and CL for pricing guitars in the current market but you might also want to check Gruhns Blue Book of guitars it will have a ballpark value. Hope that helps.

Actually it is an Epiphone casino type of guitar geared towards the inexpensive jazz player's market.

Looks like a Gibson 335 type guitar to me. But the best place to buy a guitar is right on this board!

i don't have any experience with them, but i have read they make decent affordable knock-offs. new they go for around $300 or a little more with a bigsby so 200 seems good. you will be the best judge since you've played it...for 200 i don't see how you can go wrong if you like it

I saw a handful of Turser guitars when I was at the music store. They were reasonable for the price - they don't blow away the competition in their price range but don't lag behind either. If you are expecting something that sounds and plays like a Gibson ES335 then you'll probably be disappointed. If you have realistic expectations then for a hollow body for that price it's not a bad choice. One of the biggest issues with guitars in that price range is inconsistency - some are pretty good some are dogs. Play it before buying. Hope this helps.

I bought a Turser Tele off of ebay about five years ago just to see how they were.....guitars really follow the ...you get what you pay for saying. Think I bought it, with shipping for like a $180 or something. If your just learning and dont care about playing out yet...It's ok I guess. Pick ups were horrible and the neck was annoying.

If you have no guitar at all right now, and only 200 bucks - then go for it. You have to have a starting point someplace. That being said - if you are kinda serious about learning how to play, start saving and work towards buying a decent entry level guitar - such as an American made fender or Gibson - your looking at like around 800 bucks and up. It will make a huge difference - they stay in tune, are easy to play - and will make it easier for you to make some serious progress with your work. It's not what ya probably want to hear - but if you stash away 50 bucks every week or so - by thanksgiving you can have yourself a good guitar that will be a joy - not a frustration - to play.
