Come down to Mississippi and we can have alligator wrestling matches too. Then tour the Delta blues areas and eat crawdads.

Tell me what you are thinking? is there a venue with a big stage we could all come and take over?

I guess Im thinking that it could be part festival, part workshops, part swapmeet.

If we could pick a weekend, maybe at a campground. Fly in Jim from LA to setup his rig so we can all try it ;)

Friday & Friday night have some of the local to the area bands play - social time

Sat Afternoon - Have an afternoon swap meet/social where people can show parts, amps, cables, guitars, picks, speakers, cabs, etc.

Sat morn - afternoon - Line up some people (Vic, Jeff, John K, Rob Eaton, Melvin etc) to handle the workshops like Bobby 101, Jerry Fingerpicking, Tone shop, Drums, Kahn style bass, etc.

Have impromptu jam session stage

End the day with DSO or Melvin and JGB or both.

Sun more local/regional bands and social

Its a great idea and I would come. However it will cost alot of money to get DSO and Melvin. Maybe some of the smaller bands would donate their time?

So rent the stage at Floydfest, and charge a nominal admission. Also you HAVE to include MOONALICE. I will travel from Colorado even for that!

Let's really do it!!

Nelson's ledges in ohio might be a good place for this.

massive props if they have disco pizza open for it to.

I would rather have the headliners be one of our own.
Like Tapestry or Legion Of Jerry or Playing Dead
I'm sure one those guys bands have enough connections for a sizable venue somewhere up there
Summer / late spring weather is nice in N. E.
Would be nice to do a group jam sometime
Just .02$
:-)

Floyd is a long drive for every one . . . but me :-)

It is on the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway - nice spot and the owner of the venue used to play drums with us - but since there's a lot more folks up North that would be a better location.

I'm in Richmond so Floyd's not far. Great spot indeed, tho well outta the way for all but a few of us. I'd love to see this happen someday, even as logistically challenging as it may seem right now.

Somewhere near a prominent airport with easy local transportation should be a key consideration.
Seems like... Boston???... has the most Dead bands on the east coast???
A backup-band to host the host of Jerry guys might be nice, too.

Sounds like a great idea...I'd have a long way to travel no matter where it happens but would certainly be interested. The big name bands sound cool..but are we pipe-dreaming or actually organizing something? The logistics of booking one of those acts might be prohibitive. I think to keep it in the realm of possibility you stick to the bands represented on this site...I'd love to see all of these bands. Boston area does seem like the logical choice...and outside would be very cool...but some of the members here might be able to make contact with a venue that would gladly put on a weekend long event or maybe a Thursday-Saturday thing...you guys would have to fight it out for who got the head-liner spot. Saturday could be an all day thing with multiple bands performing. I know everyone is partial to their own rig...but local guys allowing the travelers to use their equipment would help things along as well.
Just spit-balling here...but this format seems like something that could actually happen.
