The good news! I have a new favorite show. I am not sure why it took me so long to download this one, but hot damn - talk about a China Cat/Rider! If you have not downloaded the aud recording of this from archive.org - run and do so before someone at Front Street decides audience recordings should come down too!

The bad news - why do so many reviews on archive.org seem to be far from the actuality of the given show? Do we all have bad ears? Do we all have bad stereo systems? This is certainly nothing new - I can remember the 80's and early 90's when I was actively trading - It seems so many people made such absurd claims about the sound quality of the show that I just eventually quit trading. Rating and reviewing is by nature, subjective, but there seems to be so much variety on a given source. For example, the 3/9/81 show - This show's ratings run a spectrum from crap to great. Truth be told, it is not the greatest audience recording ever, and yes, I would prefer sbds, but at the same time some of the reviews of this show would have would-be downloaders thinking this show was recorded in the Garden's crapper by some clown flying on 12 of Owsley's finest and using a $2.75 walkman bought at KMart (no offense intended) to owners of walkmans or KMart shoppers. The aud recording at archive is a very good recording. I wonder if we have we reached a point where objective listening and reviewing has gone out the window? Have we reached a point where all shows are either the crappiest piece of crap or the holiest piece of music ever?

Truth be told, most shows - as you are all no doubt aware - are a mixture of both extremes with a little bit of everything in between!

Just my 2 cents - and yes, I am done ranting for the time being!

This was my 2nd or 3rd show I forget which, it's a little foggy. Great show and I have that recording as well. Very powerful C->R and a real nice FLAS and CCR. Yea, I know for those down on dead blues but this is an excellent CC Rider.

Ive had 3/9/81 high on my list for a while now, and I think that its a great aud recording actually. The Rider is really amazing, the show never loses any steam

Wildy varying opinions of shows is nothing new. There are anti-80's biases, anti-70's biases, anti- AUD biases, anti-this keyboardist, anti-that keyboardist...

Check out 10/12/81 for an truly amazing C>R experience.
