I'm looking to learn an acoustic Dead song that sounds good when just one person plays. what is everybody's favorite to play? I just finished learning High Time and i like that a lot. i can play Friend of the Devil, Loser, and Duprees. what are some other good choices that are not too advanced?

Dire Wolf, one of my solo acoustic favs it is. Also Birdsong.

I like doing solo lead on Birdsong by letting the high and low e's and the b string ring open and working different chord inversions, progressions etc. on the other three strings.

Heck, Deep Elem, Valerie, Gomorrah. I suppose I could keep going.

Been all around this World

Black Throated Wind

Deep Elem Blues

Recently I've been playing an acoustic Version of "If I had the World to Give" that I thnk sounds cool. I love this tune.

Also I like to play

Beat it on Down The Line acoustic.

Half Step sounds sweet on the flat top as well.

Plus all the others mentioned are great as well and I play those as well.

It's all good acoustic or electric!!

Play what gives you what you are looking for.

So right!. This song does sound sweet acoustic.

But, with no Harmonica, I just couldn't fill up the song on my own. I tryed to learn harmonica a little, but never invested in a hands free to play both at the same time.

Need to do so. thats for sure.

Sugaree and I Know You Rider are both fun to play acoustic.

Box Of Rain is another tune that sounds great acoustic.

Black Peter - works nicely if you aren't worried about depressing everyone who listens to it. Not the cheeriest of tunes, but ya gotta love it.

Cassidy - perfect acoustic tune, and you can rock the fat E Lydian jam with a nice Open E drone.

A few people have said it before and I agree with them Birdsong is unstoppable done acoustic. I like to do it the way it is on "Reflections", I think it's on Reflections. Anyway, done of a D7 with a little variation on the riff.

I think "Wharf Rat" would be great on the acoustic...damn shame the boys never did it that way.
