Hey all

I am just starting to look around here. My name is John and I am from NJ, late 40's. Been playing guitar almost 40 years, deadhead since 1971, first show 8/6/74. I play in a band called Gel based in New Paltz NY doing originals and covers. I play mainly an SG standard, but have a bunch of various guitars. Also very much into slide, lap steel and acoustic. I am the proud owner of an original hard trucker 2 x 12 cabinet with K120's. Hope to meet some of the folks here and have a good old time.

John

Welcome aboard! What kind of lap steels do you have? I've got a mid-50s Gibson and Supro. Those things are a lot of fun!

John,

Welcome to the board. Being from the New Paltz area, have you ever checked out the Deadbeats? The Deadbeats have been leading the Jam Band scene in lower New York State for 20 years. They are based in and around New Paltz. They play at Oasis about once per month. I am often there, sitting in on occasion. Come on out and say hello!

Wow! Thanks for all the welcomes. Lets see to answer a few of the questions.

As far as lap steels, i have a 1938 Oahu that sounds amazing! Play that through an Egnator Rebel 30 with Tonebone tube drive. Have a 1950's Rocket 110 with legs, and a 1961 National mother of toilet seat. A cheap S/X dobro and a small Silvertone i raised the strings on. Did a session at Fur Peace Ranch with David Lindley that was pretty much the highlight of my existence so far!

New Paltz, yeah, went to college there in late 70's- mid 80's and played around town in various bands. Then my band just moved there last year and we have been gigging about once a month in town. Know the Deadbeats and the folks who run Oasis. Played there in several bands over the years.

Thanks again for the welcome. See you all in the forums.

John
