When it doesn't fit anywhere else

wow, what a great photo! I wondered if the pink was the modulus pepto and now I say no way.

Check out the pick-ups - all bridge the way Bobby likes it.

Pepto was more of a standard setup used by Dylan with Dead then Bobby.

Never mind the pepto! Is that "THE" ES-335, from 1973-74?

Looks the same as the late 80s era guitar to me ... the cocobolo Modulus in the Touch of Grey video has that same pickup arrangement.

Headstock's different, though. New neck, maybe?

Probably not "the" ES from back then, Bobby seems to be endorsing Gibson now and they're giving him all kinds of guitars. That guitar looks just a little too pristine to be the vintage one.

As I recall the pepto is the same body with new pickupguard, some hardware and new neck. The current is a Strat style while in the 80s it was that pointy Modulus style.

Recall someone saying it's the same ES but if so it's been touched up/refinished it's it's way to glossy and shiny.

Yeah, that was my first thought as well... that ES is way too new and shiny to have toured in the early 70's.

Pepto might have a Moses neck now. They make a lot of direct Fender replacements. http://www.mosesgraphite.com/catalog/El ... Necks.html

Think I remember reading (probably here) that only the Pepto's body is original. From what AJ said in that Dunlop video tour of Bob's gear, it is the original '59 Gibson, all stock except for the tuners.

Re: What is that Pink Guitar

The Pepto guitar is considered one of the best sounding blackknife guitars according to Geoff Gould. Like someone mentioned Weir started playing the guitar in 1988. The pickups had the single coils squeezed together like his Cocobolo guitar but a couple months ago the pickguard broke and they switched the guard back to a standard strat style pickguard. Weir also wanted to get rid of the graphite neck and the neck was changed to a custom bolt on neck like the Genesis style necks. They still have a graphite rod through the neck just like the genesis.

Ok, I like Bobby's choices of guitars over the years. But he choice of pants throughout his career is kind of silly.
