The Jedi saw Hot Tuna last night. It was the Blues version of Tuna.
I had never seen Yorma or Jack before. 1st time seeing G.E.Smith too. And Jim Lauderdale too.
Matter of fact I had only seen Charlie Musslewhite ( harp ) before. I dig Charlie ....
1st set was acoustic, 2nd electric.
Jim Lauderdale ( spelling bad ) mentioned a few times he was working with Robert Hunter and the band played a few of their collaborations. The Jim fellow had a nice voice.Lyrics were good too.
The acoustic 1st set featured a lot of picking and jamming. New tunes off the New Tuna album.
Oh yeah they had some guy who's name escapes me on mandolin - pretty good ...
The 2nd set was cool - G.E. Smith on a Tele playing some nice stuff and Yorma went nuts with a FX'ed tone a few tunes.
The whole night I only recognized one tune - I know you Rider.
Jack had a couple of solo's and was keeping it going the whole night ...
All in all I thought they were pretty dang good

Love hot tuna. Always have been a big fan. Yorma is awesome. I've seen him many many times. He used to play at a teeny tiny dump of a bar in my home town. And almost no one went to see him. They didnt know what they were missing.

Jorma is awesome in any format. I love the Blue Country Heart thing with Sam Bush and Byron House. Anything that has Jorma and Jack together is something I want to see. He's played in Blacksburg a few times twice in the little bar where we were pretty much the house band. I got to open one of the shows and hung out with Jorma and Mike Falzarano for an hour or two before the show. He let me play his blue Gibson acoustic that I just saw in the R&R Hall of Fame and showed me the turnaround he uses on the first pass through Hesitation Blues and a couple of tricks from Embryonic Journey.

He's playing with G.E. Smith now? I've never been a big fan of his but he's got some chops.

Hesitation Blues is one I've been working on. My finger picking skills are pretty weak at the moment so I can't rock the double time part, but the other parts I have down OK. Is there any way you'd be willing to tab out that bit of info you got from Jorma?

Keep in mind he showed this to me almost 20 years ago so my memory is fuzzy and I'm sure I've mutated it over the years. I kind of make up my own picking patterns to this so I'll give you the basics.
Here's the basic structure as I play it:
Am / E7 / | Am / E7 / | Am / E7 / | Am / C7 / |

F / / / | F / / / | C / / / | C / C7 / |

G7/ / /G7 / / / | C C7 F Fm | G7 / / / |

If what you're playing is close (obviously chord embellishments aren't here) this should work starting from the 5th measure (F chord):
Instead of two measures of F, do one of F and one of Fm:

I thought it was acoustic number but that transcription seems like one of the closer's from the show that was electric.....

Cool! this is similar to the way I remember him showing it to me - he's doing something different with the A7 chord and the Dm7 in the turnaround.

Thanks so much for taking the time to tab that out. They way I play it looks quite similar to what you've put here, though I don't think the turnaround I use matches yours. I'll need to give that a go when I get back from work. I never used that Fm in there either, though now that I think about it, it's gotta be there.

Jack's playing an actual Jack Casaday Signature bass! And it's just a single-pickup Epiphone, found anywhere new for around $600 IIRC. Pretty cool, you don't see that kind of thing very often.

I really need to make it a point to see these guys.
