Wow, I really feel bad for this dude. Everyone can assume He had good intentions, maybe too much fun at times, but give him a chance to conform is what I say. He couldn't know of all the bad elements dealing flagrantly. I mean, does the omni get sued every time there was a dead show, or anywhere for that matter. All the steps taken in the lots of Dead shows were minimal effect to the overall problem at hand. So its obvious this man doing nothing is about the same for having security or undercovers trying to bust people. I guess I can't believe they are mad because he didn't put in a system that would only cost a lot of money that would be entirely ineffective, not enjoyable and frustrating. this makes him a criminal I guess, rather than a guy with a big business that had a problem he had to fix. I am, only speculating here.

Iv never been to Schwagfest, It might be this festival just gets out of hand real bad I dunno... still sucks to loose all your dough when you have stuff to pay for. No more Schwagfest for people. That's just cruel it seems, almost unfair.

I wonder what the threshold is for acting in good faith to keep out illicit drug use during events in order to keep big brother from seizing your property? Whatever it is I'd hope the guy running the show would have been versed in it seeing as having his property seized would be a possible penalty. How in the hell can they seize his assets (clean out his bank account) w/o due process? Crippling his ability to get a lawyer. Good for him he got someone probono.

I wonder if there were instances of people getting seriously hurt/sick etc. that could be tied to drug use or specific complaints? Or is this just a fishing expedition.

I know we shy away from politics around here, but don't we live in the USA? Didn't the (Old) constitution try to protect us from this very thing?

Is it me, or does this just scare the crap out of you? I mean, I understand breaking the law and paying the piper, but to destroy a person completely over something that goes on at many different venues, something he did not do personally (wasn't charged with a crime), even with the DEA "keeping control" at other concerts, its obvious there is no control. In the same context, One could easily blame them for all the drugs/problems they supposedly protect us from and fail at big venue concerts. it is scary how many laws are out there that can be used to do the exact thing to any one of us, that may or may not be ever enforced in many other situations.The GOVT can demolish your existence when you don't even see it coming... I am sure if the DEA came to him and asked/threatened to take action he would have complied. This looks like a premeditated land/asset snarfing. It is totally NOT AMERICAN, imo. we ask nicely before we snarf around here.

Folks might have heard about this place (called the Church of Universal Love and Music) in Western Pa having had similar problems. I played there a few times from maybe 96-08 and know the owner who is a very kind guy. He tried for years to get proper permits and was always denied. He decided to file for "church" status and did so which allowed him to continue fests and such. The Authorities were not pleased and tried to shut him down in court.

After a lengthy court battle, which he won, the local township had to pay him a lot of money---they were less than pleased, so, what did they do?? They busted his place.
