hell yes. Wouldnt miss a brewfest for anything. I live about a mile from Burcham Park.

times are tough but i think that if you "poke around" hard enough you'll find those that you seek. just don't give up, its always that last place ya look

I'm sorry, I can't hold it in any longer. I keep seeing this thread come up and every time I read it I get frustrated. Everybody is nice enough to encourage tgilbo but aren't realizing the insult. He claims there's nobody worth hanging out with, but, I believe most of the people who belong to rukind are cool, mellow people. And we're spread out across the world. That means that cool people are everywhere but not cool enough for tgilbo.
The scene changed years ago, man. This is nothing new. So, you've got to change with the times or get left behind. We all have our little ways of disguising our inner hippie to get by and little ways we let it out when necessary. In a way it's like a secret club.
I think a lot of people discovered back in the 70's that being a hippie doesn't pay the bills. So you get a job pay the bills, eat well, and congregate when you can. You can still have a "peace" attitude and get a job. Just because somebody works doesn't mean they're political.

I'm sorry if this hurt but I had to say it. Consider this tough love. Sometimes dad's advice is the most logical..."Suck it up, son".

One more thing, there are still plenty of hippie cults and communes out there. Seems like every festival I go to I get approached. Must be the hair!

Don't forget all the good vibes from It's a Beautiful Day in Midtown KC! Why Overland Park? Holy cow - when I have to go to Johnson County I can instantly feel my blood pressure rise! When my wife and I moved here in 1999 we were in Lenexa for 3 long years of Suburbia on steroids - we are much happier now on the Missouri side and back in the urban where we always belonged!

Tgilbo, yeah, I think the best advice has been given already - you just gotta poke around. It shouldn't be that hard in SF. I'll admit that it's been 3-4 years since my last trip to Cisco, but when I was there, it took me all of 15 minutes to find the scene. The Haight was filled with hippies. the scene was very much alive and well the last time I was there.

I was down on my luck in the city for a while, and hope showed up in the strangest of places - some drifters in Golden Gate Park gave me some "kind"ness that really turned my world around. Turned out to be a glorious day, as there were drum circles and dancing going on at "Hippy hill" in the park. Turns out that's a regular thing there. Head for Hippy Hill in golden gate park. Yeah, man I was there about 2 yrs ago. A friend and I rode into town on Halloween and checked into the youth hostel. We walked into our room and found a guy sitting on his bunk reading Kerouac. He looked up and immediately offered to share what he had...we then headed downtown but got lost on the hills, ended up in china town, and made it out after a few hours. Every day in SF was an adventure, I long to go back...when I can afford it. The scene is definetly there.
