If the Fender sound is what you want,then why not look furthur down the line? Have you tried a Deluxe Reverb ? Even smaller is a Princeton.

I love that Bandmaster Reverb head. Personally, I enjoy that power rating, and the amp will totally do the Jerry thing as long as the band isn't TOO loud.

Oh, that "punch you in the face repeatedly if you buy it" thing literally made me laugh out loud. A real LOL. Funny shit.

BMR's are great amps. However, as a former owner of one I sold it (just a few months back) and have never looked back. My suggestion was a combo based on the OP's thought of an Evil Twin.

If going the head and cab route I'd firstly say rethink. 6U rack with:
2U tubeworks/mosvalve poweramp
1U furman
1U tuner
1U SMS Preamp

You would be so good to go in any situation including one where you wanted to go old-School sans-effects.

I hooked mine up to an old Mosvalve. It sounds great.

Hogan, agreed, Allen amps are very nice as well! But I prefer the reverb of Fargens as it's kinda like a cross between Fender and a studio verb which I love while Allen is a more traditional sounding reverb.

To get back tongue red knob twin. I thought I'd point out that in the "closing of winterland" DVD specials you can watch ( in horror?) as one of the producers "re-amps" jerry's signal through one of those red devils. So technically Jerry did play through one of those on at least one release. ; )

I just checked... it wasn't Winterland (which I have) must have been the "Grateful Dead" DVD (which I borrowed from the library.) My bad, but either way it definitely happened, or I'm totally delusional. ; )
