I was wondering if anyone has heard of him or even bought one of his custom made guitars. I am looking at buying one but not really sure because i would not really know how it plays until i get it and wouldn't really want to send it back to him. Since he worked so hard on it. Anyone help me!!

Here is his website if you have never heard of him.

go to the advanced search and type in PHIGA or Phil Gawen and you can read what others have posted through out their time here. Mixed messages.

I purcahsed, owned and played a Phiga Eagle for almost two years. It played perfectly out of the box in terms of intonation, frets, electonically and so on. I had to raise the action. However, if you are going for Jerry you WILL need to completely re-wire the guitar along with new PU's etc...(unless he builds from scratch for you?) I loved my Phiga but I ended up selling it to build a new one from scratch using the wood choices I wanted. I would suggest using caution, get the neck radius. There is a huge difference (to me) in a C shapaed verse U shaped neck.
