When it doesn't fit anywhere else

Gang, I know alot of you have gone AxeFx and sold lots of gear, others have GAS and others are in the biz...

So tell me, how well has eBay worked for you for selling gear? I never have sold anything large or heavy and frankly it freaks me out.

Am I being paranoid? Should I just shut up and post it on eBay and enjoy the money flowing in??

I've sold a few heavy things on eBay and had no problems. Figuring out a shipping charge (and making sure it's ship-able) is key. I sold an Ampeg SVT on eBay probably the heaviest thing I sold. I noted that buyer pays actual shipping cost (nothing irks me more than someone squeezing a few extra bucks by profiting on shipping costs). Pack it well and you should be ok.

Another option is taking your item (guitar-amp- speaker cab, etc) to a UPS store and let them do the packing. They do a great job- you pay for it, but it's well done

and if there's a problem with the packing they'll cover it.

I sell on ebay all the time. Mostly guitars but some amps. It is easy for me because I have my own shipping department and daily pickups from UPS. If you are going to have a ups store pack your items get a quote first because they are not cheap and it may hamper the sale if the shipping charge is too high. You can do everything yourself and use UPS.com and print your own label and just drop it off at a UPS store for pick up. They also give you guidelines online to make sure you pack it according to their specs so that if you insure it and its packed properly they'll cover you.

If you have a trouble packing bring it on by to my place and I'll give you a hand!

That being said, ebay is not what it used to be. It is a lot tougher nowadays but still worth a shot. I have been having good luck selling on craigslist too if you can deal with scam emails and people who are on the way to you and somehow never show up.

Thanks, Jackr. I have been working Craigslist alot but not much turning up there.

I have a fedex account and they've done very well by me so far!
