The first time I heard it I thought "Wow, someone's channeling Jerry', but then I realized it was Jerry.

I remember seeing the video "What I Am" back when MTV used to play videos and the the guitarist was Kenny Withrow, the New Bohemians guitarist. I'd be curious to know what effects he was using.

Jerry did play with Rob Wasserman and Edie Brickell on a song called Zillionaire.

Jerry played piano not guitar on Zillionaire so that qualifies as surprising.

He's not on any Beatle records, or else you'd think he would have mentioned it to somebody, and the solo in question sounds like one of my favorite guitarists: George Harrison.

Also, I just finished reading "The Beatles", a great bio by Bob Spitz, and he didn't mention Jerry having played on any Beatles album.

As far as I know, the only other guitarist was Clapton.

Yes, the effect used on " What I Am" by Edie Brickell was an envelope filter, which Jerry used extensively on many tunes ( think "Estimated Prohet" and "Shakedown Street" ) The New Bohemians guitarist, imho, was DEFINITELY trying his hardest to sound like Jerry.

Jerry played much of the lead guitar on Jefferson Airplane's "Surrealistic Pillow" album. I always really liked what he did on Merle Saunder's "Blues From the Rainforest" album, too.

According to the B.Jackson biography, Jerry met John Lennon only once, -backstage in New York in the 70's sometime- and from what I remember it seemed like John was a bit of a jerk during the encounter.

If the bio I just read is true, then Lennon was a bit of a jerk. Very angry, very sarcastic, using his wit as a weapon.

And the Beatles, at least George and Paul, did not have a high opinion of the hippes.

Brewer and Shipley "One Toke Over the Line" featured Jerry on Pedal Steel. The song spent 14 weeks on the charts, peaking at #10 in April 1971 .

I think this might be the highest in the charts any of Jerry's side projects ever made it..
