The 70 twin I was going to buy sold. Since I would be putting any amp I buy into a head, I was looking into the Dual Showman reverb. It is a 1968 with cab and looks like it has jbl's in it. I would probably sell the cab if I bought it.

I heard these are identical to twin reverbs with the exception that they have two separate 4 ohm outs. Can anyone chime in on these amps?

I have a 72 DSR that I love. It's a master volume amp too, which really is no problem at all, in relation to your previous post. I usually just use it as a preamp anyway, so in that case the master is out of the equation. But even using the power section as well, the master set up is not an issue. It is a twin in head form, and as far as I know there is no difference in the speaker output either. It's a great amp and you'll be happy with it. Just keep in mind, it'll probably need a little work inside due to it's age.

Great amps! I love my 68! Yes, a Twin in a head. Why sell a cab with JBLs?

Not true. Has 4 ohm output but is safe to 2.7.

BTW, this thread on TGP might be helpful

...also the Fender Amp Field Guide entry: http://www.ampwares.com/amp.asp?id=87

There are two speaker jacks, but they are not separately 4 ohm or any ohm. That is determined by the speaker load you attach to it. The cab will likely be a 4 ohm load if loaded with two 8 ohm speakers in parallel. By the way, I think a LOT of people have the same M.O. , to buy both pieces, keep the heads and sell the oversized cabs. These old cabs would seem collectible, but they don't fetch very good prices. Still got my Bandmaster Reverb 2x12 cab if anyone is interested... it's a "Simon Babbs".

Take the JBL's out, slap in some special design blue labels or the like and THEN sell it... might have been what he meant.
